DipHE Animal Behaviour & Welfare, Conservation k9 Consultant. Louise Wilson Viljoen is an expert detection dog trainer/handler (more than 12 years). She has experience with explosive, drug, cash, live Body detection, cadaver, tobacco, Ivory …with a worldwide experience including UK, France, Ireland,South Africa, Gabon and Tanzania.

Course Content :

  • Detection dogs and Conservation- what you need to know.
  • Experience and operational search history. From explosive searches to Ivory searches . 
  • What makes a good detection dog and why ?
  • Picking the right dog for the right scent – rescue dog to search dog !   
  • Why use dogs for conservation ? 
  • Principles of scent training and canine olfaction 
  • Conservation – because it makes Scents ! 
  • Building confidence in a working dog 
  • Scent work basics – how to start! 
  • Practical training – step by step approach for individual dogs needs 
  • Scent pictures – how scent works
  • How to handle your dog- reading your dogs behaviour and reading YOUR own behaviour. 
  • Understanding stress in a working dog – what to consider!

Fees :

  • Before november :  For canine Handlers: 400 € – For auditors: 150 €
  • After the 31 november : For canine handlers 450 € – For auditors : 200 €

Registration : Enrolment requests are done by e-mail for non french participants, and tregistration is valid if you make the payment of registration fee whithin 5 days from registration.
